Hi folks....the project continues!! :/

Have got about 32kg of rainbow rock to put in my tank.

Is this an ok weight for my size of tank?

Have seen loads of other tanks in, with probably alot more but thought it would be best check.

Cheers

As far as iv always been told, the weight of the rocks displaces the weight of the water, so put in as much as you like.
Iv got about 20 large lumps of rainbow rock and four huge very heavy pieces of slate.
Mines fine looks really good, ill post some pics when i can get hold of a good camera.

cheers!

will do the same once it is finished (and I can suss how to put picutres on here!!)

I have about 30 pounds of rocks or even more in my tank....I don't know how much is that in kg, but as long as you have a solid and sturdy stand then I think that most glass aquarium could withstand heavy load....

In my tank I would only have about 4-5 pounds. It aint much but it adds the effect i wanted.
I wouldnt be too excessive, but ive seen heaps of tanks with alot in. Make sure yoiu have some good deep sand.

I am gonna have to put the rocks in before the sand to make sure they are secure enough (on the advice of freddyk). He told me the mbuna will dig in the sand and if the rocks aren't stable they will/could topple with obvious conclusions.

I have bought some eggcrate to diffuse the weight so i think i should be ok. Just wanted to check othe peoples opinions.

cheers all.
