i was at my local lfa today and i have seen this fish in the same tank for a while now. it looks to be about 5-6" in length and probably was a return. the store jhust has him labeled as "haplochromis"

all i could find was this google image of him/her when i searched for "haplochromis" and this image looks just like it. it is the darker one in the front. it says "haplochromis femelle" but when i googled that i found that "femelle" means female in a european language, maybe french or german (i don't know). can anyone help me out?

i was told that it would need a minimum of a 55 gal tank and that it was an agressive cichlid. being that they said aggressive i automatically thought african cichlid.

can anyone help me with identifying this fish via common or scientific name? or any info about it would be great (i.e. tank size/conditions, tankmates, special care, etc)? also, it is for sale for $25 US is that a good price for it?

thanks to everyone for your help in advanced

i don't have a camerra that takes good pics of fish so the fish in the store is out of question. the pic i have is the only one i have. search "haplochromis femelle" in google and you will see the pic. you can go to the site from there but i don't understand it.

it's a female Hap, who knows what type though. it will stay this dull brownish color though.

poor Haps, the girlies are never as pretty as the males

what would the care be? i saw some haps (venestrus) need rocky climate. will the hap at my lfs be able to live in a planted environment?

some of my haps eat plants, some dont, it's a hit or miss kind of thing, rocks are good with cave areas, they love to have that escape
