Hello. I'm having problems with my dwarf gourami. I've recently got him about a week ago, and I noticed that he's very picky with what he eats. I bought Tetramin's tropical flake food for his diet. This flake food has many different colors and for some reason my gourami only eats the red flakes. All the other flakes that he puts in his mouth, comes right back out, scattering bits of food all over. This means that i have to clean the tank more and such. Is there anything else I can feed him on a daily basis?

You should have more than one type of food anyways in order to keep the fish healthy.

Try Hikari, New Life Spectrum, HBH, Aquarian, etc brands for better quality.

I think you should taste the red ones yourself to see what makes them so good, then get him something that tastes similar

sorry, couldn't resist that. maybe he thinks the red ones are bloodworms or something? :dunno:

Try using freeze-dried blood worms, tubifex worms, or plankton. My gouramis and all of my other fish always loved them. I also use live brine shrimp to keep them eating. For staple food, I use TetraMin Pro Tropical Crisps and Hikari.

My little gouramis are little pigs...their two favorites are brine shrimp and seaweed! They just go nuts for the seaweed.
