Fairly new to fish keeping so just curious what type of fish this is? I have two in a tank atm and they love hiding/ staying on the ground
Also these two tend to chase each other and I’m not sure if it’s aggression cus the other fish are chill

Call me weird but I like them . Only when they’re small though . Too bad they don’t stay about inch and a half . Also , the bigger they get the uglier they get . Big ones look like a plain old sucker that fishermen catch just about anywhere .

It’s a gold Chinese algae eater. They can grow to 11 inches and become very aggressive and territorial as they age.
Oh thank you for letting me know!
I’ve had them for like a pretty long time and they show no signs of growth at all, will they still grow to 11 inches?

They are very cute haha, about them growing big though, I’m not sure
This pair hasn’t had growth for a year lmao

If they aren't growing, that's good in one way, because I see them as awful tank residents as they age and get bigger. They're sold to eat algae, but they are known to sometimes prefer tankmate's body slime.

Fish never stop growing, even if it's too slowly for us to see. If a 'should be large' species slows right down, it points to problems in the aquarium, often to a build up of wastes dissolved in the water. Are you doing weekly partial water changes?

Back in the days before aquarists did water changes, fish were often a lot smaller. I had variatus platys that were breeding at one inch, and when I tried this new 25% water change regime experts were suggesting, suddenly, after several generations small, I had 2 inch variatus that lived many times longer...
