What Type Of Cory Is This Anyway?

I wanted to get some companions for my cory but I don't know what species he is. I haven't seen any like him in shops ever since I bought him!

I don't think it's either of those two. Corydoras bilineatus appears to have a gold sheen to him, mine definately doesn't and all the pictures I found of Sterba's Cory Cat seem to have patterns on the tail fin, my cory doesn't.

Maybe he's a hybrid of the two?

not meaning to be offensive, but there is a reason that Ian is called coryman.

I would go with his id, you will be hard pressed to find a more informed opinion worldwide imho

Just to keep the record straight, before C. bilineatus was described it was for a long time considered to be C. napoensis and in fact their colour patterns are very close and may even overlap making 100% positive identification difficult at times. C.bilineatus comes from Bolivia and C. napoensis comes from the Rio Napo in Peru.

Hmm. That's really interesting! So what are the main differences between the two?

The next question is can I find some companions for him? I'd prefer one just like him but would it be OK to put him with different species of corydoras?
