What To Stock In My 50g?

i have a 55g tank that will be mine and i was wondering if i could put in there:

can i put these in the 55g?:

1x jack dempsey,
1x female convict,
2x severums,
1x firemouth,
1x albino shark,
and 1 rainbow cichlid.

Nope that'd be way overstocked, the sevs alone need something towards 100g (before I get the usual lynching off other members about how they only get to 4" and they keep theirs in a 20g with an oscar or something lol), then the JD and everything else on top - you'd be looking at at least 135g I'd think.

Scroll down to Central American, according to them you can have a pair of JDs but that'd be it. They also recommend another type of thoricthys (same family as firemouths) so you might get away with a pair of firemouths in there. But it'd have to be one or the other - not both. If you went for calmer cichlids, you could have some other fish in there. One thing I should say though is that they recommend a gold nugget plec in with cichlids in a 55g, but in reality gold nuggets can get up to 16" so that bit at least is a load of crap lol.

i'd suggest a salvini,a firemouth,blue acara as the cichlids.you could add a couple of bristlenoses.cichlids are really tricky to suggest combinations as each fishes tempermant is different.you could get a wussy salvini or a nasty salvini,it just depends on the individial.its up to you really what you get.just make sure you have a good lfs who will take back your fish if and when they get too nasty.i keep cichlids and its really difficult to explain to people that when they are 2-3 inches the tank seems placid,but,when they get bigger,then anything can happen.

there are also rainbow cichlids or you could keep a wet pet such as 1 green terror.

Shhhh dont tell the mods it's not a forum, it's a cichlid site that happens to have a forum on it, but the majority of the site is species info and tank suggestions - I think it's a very useful site for anyone with cichlids

yeah my FS is the best around my area, they no me very well by name lol, and they give me free fish as they no im good with fish, and they say if i have any trouble give them a ring and they can help, i took back loads of fish, but there allways joking with me !! lol
