What to salty

I have found a really nice 90 gal setup with filters heaters and even $300 worth of fish for a very low price. The problem i have is they r salt water and i really want a tropical tank. I have no problem with the fish most r going to my uncle and the pet shop will give me some sort of credit for the others including the live rock and all the fake coral. What about the filters and stuff? Can they be used in a tropical tank? if they cant the deal isnt as good as it was.

The filters can be used after a V Good clean and you will have to cycle from scratch. Any ornaments and other stuff in there is likely to have absorbed salt, so best to start with the bare tank. If it has a protein skimmer, sell it too as it wont work with fresh water. You should then be left with - tank, heater, filter and lighting (what is this by the way? you may need to change tubes if its flourescent as it will probably be the wrong colour spectrum).
