Hi guys,

Im getting a Vision 260 tank in a couple of weeks (cant wait) at the minute i have a 20g with 4 platies and 6 Cories, i am hoping to get a Bristlenose Plec (when i get my new big tank) but my question is what else can i have in there???

Im not really sure what is compatable with the fish i already have, i have thought about Gourami or Angel fish but i have heard that they can be a bit agressive, is this true???

Any ideas would be a great help

Thanks
Em x :D

That new tank your getting is roughly 58 gallons. I would say that a gourami is fine. I have only had dwarf gouramis around my platies and corys, and he has done fine. As long as you give him plenty of room (which 58 gallons is), he should be fine. I'd only get one gourami, for they do chase one another.

In regards to the angelfish; get him small and young. Angelfish who grow up with smaller fish tolerate smaller fish. I had an angel that I had from a young age and he grew up with tetras and platys, and he is peaceful around them. My other angelfish that I bought when he was older terrorizes them. If you want an angelfish, be sure to get them tiny!

Good luck with your tank. That sounds like a nice size. :D

Thanks Chibi,

I actually get my fish from a really good place, they really know their stuff and look after the fish well, i have seen the Gourami's and Angels there and they all look quite young, would it be best going for male or female, or is it too hard to tell??

It's impossible to tell the gender of an angelfish. I've only had male gouramis. I've heard that gouramis aren't much different in gender, although I could be wrong. So, it doesn't matter the gender for both of them. I think. It would be best if we had a second opinion, though. *waits for someone else to come by*

Dunno if this helps any, but......

I have two sunset red dwarf gouramies and also two regular dwarf (red/blue) gouramies. I have a M/F pair of each type. They do not fight at all, and tend to spend time with each other quite happily. Occasionally there is some gentle chasing but that is all.

The females look almost identical - a plain drab silver. The males are very bright and obvious.

Irf.

Thanks thats a great help, i think im going to get some gourami's, now all i have to do is decide which ones!!! :D
