i was thinking about putting either a red - eye puffer or a pair of german blue rams with some neons. any ideas.

I wouldn't keep rams in a 10 gallon tank. It might work though but I'd give them at least 20 gallons, larger base area

smaller tetras would be good

I want to put a pair of rams in 10 gallon so bad. I have pair that lay eggs always and have spawned fry twice.

But other inhabitants of 75 gallon are devious.

But dont want to dedicate larger tank, guess I must :dunno:

a male betta with some small schoolers?

female betta community?

just some ideas

Maybe divide it and have male bettas? Or... a goldfish? Or cories and platies and guppys?
A 10 Gallon for a goldfish is not big enough, you'll need at least 20, sorry.

Also, I'm not sure if you can keep a red eye puffer in a 10G, you might be better off asking that in the oddball section :) For a 10G however, I think it might be better to buy 2 dwarf puffers and keep them in there

I'd go for the rams, maybe just a pair and nothing more, as long as you keep up with the WC then you should be fine. Or get a school of small tetras like the neons, rummynose and a couple of bottom feeders....My 2 cents...

I don't think a red-eyed puffer would do well in a 10g, but you can go with two dwarf DPs if you plant it nicely to give them their own territories and such.

The German Blues can technically be done in a 10g, but it's really difficult. Lots hiding places for the female, and plants would make the water quality a little better. Still risky.

2 Dwarf puffers OR a small group of Peacock gobies, both very interesting and good looking fish. [EDIT: see my sig for the peacocks]

I belive opinion is divided a little bit over goldys. IMO it depends- if you get one of the smaller fancy varietys you can get away with it. That is my tuppence anyway.

As for other fish- you have quite a large choice. Do you want more unusual fish or don't you mind? Is the tank fully cycled? What are conditions like? A lot of Q's I know, but some smaller fish are very picky. EG ottos :D

not a bad thought, per se, but theres one flaw in the plan... all goldys, regardless of type get 10-12 inches, live up to 20 years and poop EVERY half hour! (except koi... they can get twice as large and live even longer than that!!) blech! in a 10 gal? you'll be cleaning and scrubbing and de-grottifying every darn day for the next 20 odd years! not my cup of tea... but hey, some people like cleaning up after others non-stop...

PS. besides, because goldy's are so dirty, thier rule of thumb ratio is 2 gallons per 1 inch of fish... hence the reccomendation for a 20 gal tank.

This is what my little brother has in his 10 gal:

Male betta
3 albino corries
3 ghost shrimp

They all seem to get along very nicely. =) And they are so fun to watch hehe.
