Hillstream loach that was in there died.........see my sig at the bottom to know who all is in the tank.

I need someone small that will take care of the algae............don't really want an otto unless that is all I can have.

I am afraid to try another hillstream..........and don't want a mess of snails in there........so anything I am not thinking of? I need help, the algae is getting outta control......I am already turning the lights off.................

With my 4 gallon I just kept the lights off entirely for a week. Once the algae was gone, I turned them back on but reduced the time they were on by 4 hours/ day. I found that works as well as getting algae eaters.

I don't know if you could have anything else except otos in the tank without overstocking. The guy at my lfs told me one could keep one cory in a tank that size, but IMO it wouldn't be a very happy cory

Maybe shrimp? I have no knowledge about them except that some kinds eat algae, so maybe other people could interject here. . .

is the tank well planted?
do you need the bright light
looking at you're other tank I cant think your overfeeding , but its a small tank any extra food will make a huge diffrence

I also have a small tank with 5 neons and a Male Betta, and the tank is still well planted ( cant see the back of the small tank no matter what angle you try) I always had the tank turn green 2 days after a 25% water change causing me to just change the water every 2 days, still do but this still didnt resolve the problem,

I now add a weekend block in the tank when the old one is gone and only feed the fish life food evey second day, like Dafnia, mosqueto larve, and other life food that wouldnt die and polute the water, brine shrimp is one of them,

Now the water is clean and the fish seems happy, sometimes it take the fish more than 1 day to eat all the live food, Its great to see the betta chasing stuff around mouth open and fins spread

Also I dont have a filter, air pump, or anything, other than a light in the tank

Might be better se know why the alge is in the tank rather than adding something like copper, you're glasscat would not love you, the betta and Glolight will be fine..
