i have a 55 gallon tank that has been up and running for about a year. i have 6 fish in it (5 cons and 1 jack). the 5 cons range from 1 inch to 3.5 inches. the jack is 3.5 inches. i want to add some more fish that are compatable with these ones so i do not have to get rid of any of them. i want some fish that have color because at this point there is not very much color in the tank. :p i welcome any advice on what to get and how many to get even if it is just to stay with the fish that i already have. all advice is welcome thanks

Hey...
Are your cons breeding? Your best bet would prbably be a fast durable schooling fish. Clown barbs or maybe even tiger barbs could work. But with Cons it usually comes down to individual temperment.

no my cons are not breeding they did twice but that was 6 months ago. so far my fish are pretty pasive but the 3.5 con is pretty agressive. he is the leader of the tank but he does not beat any one up, he just chases them around

what about a firemouth? or a gold sev?

i dont know about getting more fish....
when they are full grown i think there will be an aggression problem. the convicts will pair up and i think they will kill eachother. convicts are extremley aggressive and will defend their offspring. when i had convicts that bred, they even bit my hadn when i got close to the babies! . for now the tank is fine, but in the future, you may have a problem with aggression.
now, since they arent fully grown, i aggree with digital run on tiger barbs or some other fast fish. i think some dithers would be ok

The tank sounds pretty full to me.
yup , freddy has a point , and wait til they grow up .

As your fish mature they will become more colorful ,and more Territorial , schooling fish may or may not be ignored [ beaten or eaten that is ].
