What To Feed Them?

Hi guys,

I have currently got a new tank setup, done the fishless cycle and im about to put in some fish.
I am getting
Neon Tetras,
Tiger Barbs,
Plec,
Maybe a red tailed black shark.

What is the best food to feed these on?
In my books it says they all eat pretty much anythin. Can i feed them bloodworm or sumthin? Or flakes be better? IM CONFUSED, thanks a lot guys

Blood worms are the best. You can also feed them with flakes as staple diet.

Awsome, will sort sum bloodworm out. How much bloodworm should i feed them?
Do reccomend flakes once a day and bloodworm once a day??

Bloodworms in the morning, flakes in the afternoon.

Don't over feed them.

the plec will like veg and sinking flakes/pellets, you can special plec pellets.
and maybe stick a bit of cucumber in occasionally (soak in boiled water first, softens it up).

what type of plec are you looking to get?

Im not sure yet, any advice to go with fish i mentioned up top??
I have seen a few but i dont want one that will grow massive and get all agressive. What would you advise me getting?

Umm, the tank is only 14UK gallons... (unless you happen to be setting up another tank at the same time)...

Neon Tetras- OK
Tiger Barbs- Tank too small, and they're nippy
Plec- Tank too small for most species
Maybe a red tailed black shark- Tank too small

The Red Tailed shark is definitely out.

Any plec other than bristlenose is out. Bristlenose only if you keep the other stock low.

Barbs require a lot of swimming space. I'd reccomend against them. Instead get a more peaceful species, like rummynose tetras or rasboras.

You could get 6 neons, 6 rummynose and a bristlenose plec. That would be pretty much fully stocked, and a nice tank.

Agreed, common plecs may look small and cute now in the shops but booooooy they can grow- and will. Im giving mine that ive had for over a year thats in my 29 gallon away to a friend of the family.

Would a Bristlenose plec attack a siamese fighter?

no, i don't know of any BN's attacking fighters.
they are compatable in the right size tank.

obviously if the tank is too small and the fish are stressed then who knows what could happen.
