Hi guys, I'm new to the board... glad I found it
I have a livebearer tank that's 4'x1x1.5 with:
while feeding flake, frozen bloodworms, freeze-dried brine shrimp, live baby brine shrimp, spirulina flakes, lettuce. Water change about once a fortnight. Bit of salt in the water.
I've also recently put in a "baby screen" that I made out of stiff transparent plastic with holes about 0.5cm drilled all over it. This kinda sits about 5cm off the bottom. There's Java Moss and a little bit of large-size gravel in the bottom compartment. The adults can't get in there but the babeez can!
There's quite a few plastic plants in the main part too. Since I've put this in there's been a much higher survival rate of fry. When it comes to feeding time I squirt food under the plastic. Sometimes a fry will escape and since I'm forever stopping by to look in the aquarium, I usually scoop him/her up with a brine shrimp net to go into the "nursery" tank (1.5'x1x1.5) with the rest of the juveniles.
Anyway, so now I have all these fry of all different sizes (ranging from the 4 survived from the first hatch are now about an inch, to newborns). Must be about 70+ of them and I'm not stopping any time soon, it's so cool to see babeez being hatched and growing up.
I was thinking of taking them to the LFS or two, any idea what I'd get for them (when they're fullgrown of course). Especially interested in Australian (Perth)prices...
