 Well I have 4 gravid platty. 2 heavily do that I am thinking any day now as they get bigger each time I see them BUT heres the thing. I have 1 breeding net.. Its a large one so I can prob keep quite a few in there but I just dont like the thought of them being eaten in the tank. i know I will have too as time goes on as the 7 members of my family easily awaiting baby fish wont always be that way..
Due to the stupid filter being in the way I cant hook another net on the left side of the tank and I cant hook them on the back or the front.. what do you think i should do.. which one do you think I should allow to have all babies in the net?

red wagtail? red? or 2 sunsets?

If you could, I would invest in a small tank, around a 5 gallon, just for breeding purposes. The fry would grow in their too and without being harmed by the larger fish. For the part on choosing, could you put some pics up of the fish. I always love pictures

I have thought about the tank, there is no where in the house that I could possible house it. I have my little hex one in the kitchen but thats got goldfish in it.. I dont have room in the bedrooms... I wish I had more room.. heres some pics

I would not let any of the females actually give birth in the net. Save the net for when the babies have been born and scoop them into it instead. That way you will not risk stressing out the female (some of them don't like the net at all!) and you may end up saving some babies from each. A heavily planted tank will help to save the fry until you can get there, particularly with some floating plants up the top.
