i was just surfing the net when i came across this
how can a betta be happy in this

betta.jpg

It can't be happy in that but people still do it. Have you seen the purse/betta bowl? Someone found it online, its got a little plastic box thing that you can keep your betta in. I hate all those products, just lies told to people ("bettas love having giant plants block off their only paths to breath!") to make money.

yeah i have seen the purse/betta bow thas just plain Torture people like this should not keep betta not just bettas all kinds of fish

Yeah that's sick. I remember a while back when the plant bowl betta thing was a big deal around here. I fully admit I'm a sucker for neat new things but I could tell just by looking at it that it's a bad idea.

here is the website with the bubble purses. Sick people. :(

I've emailed the owners and POLITELY told them what I think of their product.

We'll see how they respond....

Yeah, well... I remember at this one school, everyone got gifts before a big game, and for the girls' swim team, somebody apparently thought it would be "cute" to give everyone a new water bottle with 2 tiny live goldfish in it. People just act like these fish are just commodities, "stocking stuffers" instead of living things.

My sister once went to a wedding where they used a tiny bowl with a single goldfish as table decorations. There were a LOT of these poor fishies, and then they asked people at the reception to take them home (the ones that survived. Most died from all the crumbled crackers and other food not to mention probably some alcohol poured in there). So I'm sure none ultimately survived unless they were taken home by someone who keeps fish.

DOn't hold your breath, I emailed her 6 months ago and never heard a word :/ There is a person on the forums who has a bubble bag, I won't name names, but they aren't shy about it :sly:

On THIS forum?

I'm sure that once the person pays a visit to the betta forum the person will get another tank.

Just hope the person hasn't already been here for a while and has already read all the info the person can find about bettas, and is still keeping it in a bubble bag.

Because that's just inhumane.

They've been here awhile and are quite open about the fact and assure us that they aren't cruel :grr: Makes me sick

they wont reply to ur e-mail lots TFF members have e-mailed the about what they think and none of them got a reply (i was one off them)

Sorry to be completely stupid, but what's a bubble bag -_- ? It sounds horrible, I would like a betta at some point, but would only ever keep it in my tank!

And I thought you couldn't get any worse than a betta vase... why is it that peaople treat bettas like this? They don't do it to other labyrinth fish and I see no reason why bettas should be different. I have NEVER kept a betta in anything under 5 gallons (and then it was temporary or quarantine) or any tank I wouldn't put a gourami in. I understand breeders keeping them in jars for a while but keeping them in a ridiculous contraption like that is just cruel.

That is disgusting, a bag with a fish in it ,whoever buys one of those wants a bag over their head a ..

Plastic one :grr: :grr:

Hmm... I just sent a little e-mail to that site with some harmless questions. I'm just curious to see their answers... then I can start 'educating' them (you may know what I mean :p). It'll probably make absolutely no difference but at least they'll have suffered a few moments of guilt (I hope)... :D Honestly though, whoever has one of those things should re-consider keeping any fish. At least stop using it...
