ok, unsure what is going on with my poor betta, he is just recovering from dropsy, heres some water states,

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5

the water has epsom salt in it to try and help him as he is still slightly bloated from the dropsy, there is 4 teaspoons in the tank, the tank is a 25 - 30 litre, sorry im unsure of the exact! anyway

he is hiding alot and tends to just sit at the bottom of the tank,

the problem:

he is only using 1 fin to swim with, the other is barly moving, it sort of "shimmers" at the tip of it,

any ideas??

some more photos would be helpful. which fin is effected? ventral/pectoral,etc?
cheers

What is the temp of the tank.
Are you using a bacterial med.

photos...hm well his fin has not changed so would photos be worth posting? the tank temp is 28 degrees,

I would use a bacterial med.

got it, does it matter that he only had a internal med a week ago??

Add the med again.
Which med did you use?

interpet internal parasite thing, i cannot check it right now as im not at home lol, but i can when i get home, i have 2 meds, one for bacterial infections and the interpet for internals,

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet fine.
Good Luck.

hey again, getting close to the next hslf of his treatment :( things are not looking to good! he is not eatin and hiding under his bridge at all times....the only time he comes out is to come to the surface and then back down again...ive got a bad feeling, oh and he has a very HEAVY breathing... is this a bad sign??

Once bacterial infections progress there hard to cure.

No it's not a good sign i'm afraid the heavy breathing.

The fish really needs antibiotics, but in the uk there only available throw a vet. They also wipe the beneifical bacteria out in the filter.
So its best to use antibiotics in issolation.

erm...the vet?? will my local vet be able to give me some?? i dont even know what i need!!! :( poor cloud he has been through so much

Did his scales ever stick out. As that the last stage of dropsy organ failure.
Is she still going to the toilet.

You need an antibiotic like tetracycline.

Tetracycline
Manufacturer: Aquatronics
A broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacterial infections. For infections of fin and tail rot, frayed fins, popeye, inflamed gills, mouth and body open sores/ulcers, livebearer disease, dropsy, Columnaris, and secondary infections such as fungal. Specific for livebearers and goldfish. Aerate the aquarium well when using.
