Ok, ive noticed one of my neons has little white salt like spots on him along with a platty which has them on its tail.
im guessing this is ich, however im not altogethr sure so if im wrong please do tell me!
Ive heard that upping the water temp can help to clear this up, and ive also added melafix? tho im not sure whether this is going to help at all? is it only curable with ich treatments as i have also read that they can be harmful to fish?
Also is ths something that can be passed on from bought in fish into your tank, as i was very sillan bought two new platty's 2 weeks ago even though i saw they were treating for ich in another tank.
sorry for so many questions in one post but i like to know exactly what im doing (otherwise i worry!)

Hi, yes chances are the ich has come from the new fish. What temp is your tank at atm?
its normally at 27/28 as my heater, that came with my tank is at its lowest, i know its supposed to be between 24-27, i put it up to about 29/30 didnt know if this was too high or not, the fish dont seem to be too bothered by it. just read the post at thw top of this forum which has helped a bit also found a website that gave me more info, but everything seems to contradict eachother.
