I have been searching for a while for the right tank set-up for the reserved space in the living room, so far the rekord 800 will do nicely accept the height with stand is i think 118cm and there is a small window above the space. So 116cm is the highest i can go on a tank, the rekord 80 as far as i know is just under that but they seem to be harder to get hold of now. I was hoping there might be some people with tanks out there that are 116cm or less high including stand and no longer then 102cm. I hope this makes sense.

Great idea guys even 20mm will bring it to 116cm just about. It wont effect the distribution of weight though will it (i suppose it should improve it??)

yea should be fine its only a very small sill but i'm very picky and it would look so much neater sitting just under even if its slightly off the wall will be fine as long as you can see the window sill above the tank. All sounds picky but when i eventually get it i will post some pictures for you all to see.

I did the opposite on my Rio 240, wanted to raise it a bit so I bought 8 Caster wheels from B & Q (50mm), cost £30 but it meant that the tank is high enough to be a few mm above the desk that it runs alongside, its in my home office. I had been looking at that space fro a long while wondering what to do with it, now looking forward to fillinig it with fish which can be great to watch when on very boring conference calls!

I got the type with brakes on so I could lock it in place and if I need to do any major work to it then it can be wheeled out slowly for access.

Tank currently cycling.

Its only for emergencies where major changes are required, these are sturdy casters and will handle the weight no problem and it is on a wooden floor which makes it easier. 30% of tank is beyond the edge of the desk, the rest can be reached relatively easily. So its just a precaution, but when I needed to raise the level and the tight fit it made sense to add the wheels!

if you move it when full it will put stress on the glass and may crack it

or even with water in at any level above 5%ish

I had never realised this was never going to move it at any speed as I have to be careful as it comes out to kep it straight.

Is it really that serious I thought that tanks were fairly well constructed and if handled carefully would be ok with this sort of careful movement. Also if full would it not also blance any swaying effect? I could imagine it being worse at 50% full?
