A few months ago I had my first major tank disaster, to this day I have not figured out what happened. I woke up one morning and smelled this fowl odor and walked down stairs and the tank water was red and smell was horrifying! 
At the time I didn't have another tank so I did the best I could. I emptied the tank out and got out the lone survior my precious Mickey Mouse platy! I lost 6 zebra banios, 4 guppies, 2 sunset platys and a catfish!
I reset up the tank and bought another tank and restocked. I did some research and haven't had a problem since.
My Micky Mouse platy is still surviving and thriving! He is one tough little dude to survive that!
Anyone else have any major disasters similar to this?
