What substrate can i use for a frontosa? im wanting something black or dark if possible but it will need to raise the ph

if you are in the uk get the roman black gravel from pets at home its fine gravel and looks top i have the blue shade of that gravel in my tank and then add some natural rocks to your tank to raise the ph as well as a natural looking tank

Sand is preferable for fronts, but smooth gravel would work as well. The only dark color substrate I'm aware of that will buffer your water is Caribsea Eco Complete African Cichlid Sand. It's mostly black sand with white mixed in (aragonite for buffering), they also sell it in a gravel version. For light colored buffering substrate you can get aragonite sand or crushed coral. :good:
