what substrate do u use?

hahaha i DID post a thing about substrate!!! mwahahaha!!!

My 60gal and 10gal use playsand (same brand, I put what was leftover from filling the 60gal into the 10gal). One 5gal Betta tank has bright blue gravel (a foray into tackiness, lol), the other has a darker kind of sand. The 20gal Betta sorority tank has black marine reef sand. The 3gal Betta tank that's currently put away has a sort of smaller-grained, rocky type of gravel.

My 38 gal has natural color small river rock with some colored gems in there. My 10 gal has natural small/medium gravel in it. As you can tell...I like the natural, neutral color...lol

my 25 and 15 have natural gravel and my 55 has a roman fine gravel that is 2 shades of blue looks stunning with the lighting system i have with it

my 60 litre has playsand mixed with a small amount of gravel.

my 270 litre has 2/3 sand and 1/3 river rocks of various sizes.

my 180 has small natural gravel, not much courser than sand.

my 90 ltr has rounded natural gravel.

my 10 ltr has black sand,

and my other tank is bare bottom for fry and poorly fish.

I got natural gravel in my tropical freshwater, not really decided yet but I think I'll change it to sand. I have sand in my coldwater marine as well as gravel, I've segregated the two and it looks quite good I reckon.

Since I have corydoras in almost all my tanks, I have to keep the substrate fine and smooth. Some of my tanks have sand and others have #1 gravel or #3 gravel. :D

ADA amazonia powders soil, jbl aqua basis, tropica all kinds really. inert stuff is normally black gravel or pea gravel.

then i diy my own fert substrate with sphagnum moss peat and osmocote etc.

Sand over pond soil in my 30 gallon, small grade gravel in my 5 gallon Hex, and small grade gravel in my 12 gallon, but I am replacing this with black sand as soon as I have hoarded enough bags of it ( I think 3 bags in total should do it )

It's actually reptile sand which is both dye and chemical free, so it's safe for fish but rather expensive at 7.50 a bag!!!! I think it'll look good though, and will show up my pygmy cories ,endlers, black and cream guppies and Golden apple snail very well indeed.

black marine reef sand in my 5gal betta tank. And a natural colored gravel in my 55gal, will be using a play-sand/black sand mix for my krib tank as soon as i get it running. I also have one tank with bare bottom to keep it clean clean!

Play sand in my 125L. Did have play sand in my 35L as well but it went blackish rather quick - cleared up easy, just didn't look very nice. I mixed in some roman gravel* and now it looks like a pebbly beach.
A small amount of roman gravel in the 15L QT - just enough to cover the bottom.
* bought the roman gravel because I only wanted a little bit for the QT and even a small pack was too much so had loads left over.
