I am looking for a nice pair of South/Central American cichlids for my tank;

I currently have:
25x Silvertip Tetras
4x Corydoras Julii
2x Siamese Flying Fox (Moving to another tank when bigger)
2x Bristlenose Catfish
In my 4ft 240l (Fluval Roma 240) aquarium.

I am trying to decide on a species of cichlid for this tank, I do not want dwarf species although, due to the restrictions of tank size, nothing too large either. I have thought of firemouths, angels, severums and festive cichlids.

Are the fish I have stated suitable and are there other species that would fit the tank.

Any help is appreciated and once the pair are in I will post pictures.

Thank you,

You could have something like
25 Silvertip Tetras
8 Corydoras Julii
2 Bristlenose Catfish
4 festivum cichlids or Angelfish
4 Geophagus iporangensis or Biotodoma cupido or Laetacara dorsigera

Wow, nice, 4 angels/festivums!!!! and 4 Laetacara Dorsiger/Biotodoma Cupido!! Sounds great!
Although... think maybe 4 Rainbow Cichlids instead of the angels/festivums?
I gotta say Geophagus I LOVE, but seeing as my tank is planted I can't really have them as I'll wake up one morning to see the plants floating on the top.

Anyway sounds great and thanks for the reply.

I think the rainbows plus the Laetacara Dorsiger or Biotodoma Cupido would be to much. You could go for 4 festivum cichlids and 4 rainbow cichlids though.

Laetacara Dorsiger are smaller than festivums though?

What i mean is festivums and angels stay near the surface and Laetacara Dorsiger and Biotodoma Cupido stay near the bottom. So theres enough room for both of them to have territories where as rainbow cichlids stay on the bottom aswell and IMO 8 10cm+ cichlids all at the bottom will be way to much and there will be alot of territorial issues. Does that make scene?
