Well I'm slowly collecting things to do a largish community tank, and angels were one of the fish I had been considering, though wasn't planning on getting any fish for a few weeks, but when I saw this fella, I just had to have him.

He was sold as a veiltail, which would explain the long feelers but what about the scales? I remember reading once about Pearlscale angelfish, is this what he is? He's also an albino, are they rare?

Ah well He's absolutely gorgeous in my opinion LOL

Looks to be an albino pearlscale. Nice fish! :good: They are a little difficult to find, so I would say they are a bit rare.

I talked to one of the brokers I deal with a while back to see if this is something he would be interested in me breeding, he said they probably wouldn't move any better than the other varieties of angels. I don't see them in the shops or various auctions too often, and they are in the running as one of my next breeding projects.

I've never seen or heard of them being in Aus before, I had been banking on picking up a black angel as thats all that is generally available, this guys much nicer, wish he wasn't a veiltail though, but ah well.

The pet store I got him from was amazing, pristine tanks, not one sick fish, mainly African cichlids with a few angels and rams thrown in. According to the owner, who netted the fish for me, she adores angels, and special orders particular varieties from suppliers, keeps the best ones and puts the rest in the store.

yeah it does look like an albino pearlscale. i would agree its not a veiltail too. from the picture it doesnt look like one. pearlscales has never been my favourite though, but nice angel you got there.

Southern Cross it's in Morrisset near the train station. Not much selection but wow were the fish absolutely amazing, the tanks were crystal clear not a single tank was on "hold"being medicated, no dead fish, no torn fins, no signs of ich, fungus or any other illness. Theres another pet store near there Gates of Eden, we didn't get around to visiting it today, but they also have fantastic animals, so I think the fish would be just as good.

Thanks for the link a fish dude, normally I'd say rip off since He was 4 times the price of a standard angel, but hey he was a Pearlscale albino so well worth it LOL.

Would pearl scale be the same as diamond scale? I bought these 2 as "albino diamond scale angels" last week.

That would be a shame... I was thinking they'd look pretty impressive if they got big.
