Hi Everyone, this is my first post!!

I have just bought a Juwel Rio 180 but am thinking of changing the internal filter to the Tetratec ex range external filter, (quietness is really important to me), do you think I should go for the EX700 or the EX1200 with a 180 litre tank. Also any good ideas of how to remove the Juwel internal tank would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

The EX700 is the one rated for your tank, but with a minimal difference in price, i personally would go for the EX1200. Over-filtration can't be a bad thing.

BTT

thank you, do you think the bigger wattage would make a difference to noise levels?

I have the EX 700 on my rio 180 its near silent too and fits in the juwel cabnet with the shelf moved up/taken out try aquacadabra on ebay as there the cheapest i have seen them never used them mail order tho as thay are just up the road from me always seem to have loads of parcels going out tho

Are you in Edinburgh Flash? We have a shop here called Aquacadabra.

You have to go for the EX1200 i have one on my Vision 260 and it has been very good easy, to clean and very quiet. The u bar at the back was leaking slightly but the service from Tetratec is the best i have every dealt with and they issued a new one no problem.

Removing the Internal filter is also straight forward I used a stanley blade to slice through the rubber holding it to the glass just take your time and go slowly and it will just prise off.

I have used Aquacadabra they are also very good.

I paid £69.95 for my Ex1200 off the net I lost the bookmark for the site It was something like Aquatics warehose supplies I will see if i can find other Info.

Are the Juwel internal filter no good then? I have just bought a Juwel Trigon 350 with the Juwel Jumbo filter.... I wasn't planning on buying an external filter either.

By the way the filter is virtually silent.

There ok for a standard communty tank imo it depends what your stocking and the levels. An external also makes mainetance a lot easyier and cheaper in the long run

I am yet another with the EX700 on a rio 180. Great filter! You might find Zooplus.co.uk quite reasonable in price, with free delivery and £4 off for new customers I think (though, its a euro plug as they are a german company).
