What Size Tank Would You Recommend?

Ok, thanks. Im thinking about getting some more tetras but what tetras are their to choose from? Also what about shrimp, what types are their? I was thinking about some cherry shrimp? I heard shrimp dont really count as stock if their quite small, is this true?

Yes i would like a 55g tank. But what about the filter? Heater? and all the sand etc? I would need to upgrade everything. Im getting a 30g because my filter and heater can handle it.

Heater perhaps, but assuming you're going to be keeping the 30 at the same sort of stocking leels as the 15, you're going to need a bigger filter anyway...

Shrimp are always a good choice, and yes, for the most part don't add much to the tank. Make sure you check to see what's available at your lfs, first. All I can find here is ghost and bamboo shrimp. Each species has it's own requirement and food sources, so make sure to research before you buy - just googling the shrimp name will return the info you need. Smaller shrimp will often end up lunch to larger fish, so keep that in mind when buying - because if it's cheap (19 o 29 cents for ghost shrimp), it's not that bad to replace them with more, but with some species, you're looking at 10 to 20 bucks per shrimp.

What type of filteration would you suggest? Would adding one of those large, cheap spong filters help?

You'd be better off getting something like a small external. A second hand Eheim won't cost much (especially if you sell the 3+) and provides a lot of room for bacteria.

looking at your stocking list your probably already stocked to the max for a 30g! if you want more fish then get the biggest tank you can afford and have room for. You should stock about 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. :/

that list looks fine for a 15g to me. Can you justify how its stocked for a 30g?

I overfilter all of my tanks, and instead of using one huge one, on my 29 gallon, I have a 30gallon filter AND a 20 gallon flter, one on either side. That way, I can change the cartridges at different times, and always have a filter running. I also use two different brands, as they are slightly different, and I'll bet each one has their strong points, so together I'm sure they cover all the bases. Both of these filters aerate the water as well, but I still have a small pump and airstone in the tank as well. I am all about overkill, I like my fish to stay nice and happy!

Oh, and as far as what size tank should you get... no matter what you get, you will want bigger, that's just the nature of the game! I would say around a 200 gallon should do it! LOL!
