at the min im having a swap round with tanks and have just got a new 1 (5x2x2) this 1 is for my 2 baby oscars i got now these are 4" and living with a 6" rainbow shark, and was thinking of finding a pleco to go in the tank with them, but what size should i look for minimum?

due to oscars relatively fast growth i would go for as bigger one as possible so it doesnt become a snack for the oscar. i am currently setting up a similar tank and am getting a fully grown oscar and i have not gone for a plec thats under 6 inches just in case. it depends on what plec you want too as some will grow faster than others depending on their fully grown size, the bigger they get the faster they grow is a general rule. the only draw back to buying bigger specimins is that they come with a price unless you go for a gibbi or common plec.
i have opted for a L190 and a L114 and have set me back over £100 for the 2 and i have got them cheaper than they would normally sell for

Generally aiming for 12" adult size would look nice, broad range of very nice species available at that size. But I think generally anything over 6" and under 1/5 of the tank length would be good.
