I have some C.Melanotaenia fry of varying sizes. The biggest batch between half and one inch long. Does anyone have any advice on what size they should be before I offer them for sale?Picture is of the parents. Cory_melanotaenia_breeding_trio1.jpg

Hi teddyman5 :)

That depends on what the buyers want. If you will be selling to an lfs, ask them what size they expect them to be. You will pretty much be raising them to suit their needs.

As a seller, I hate to get rid of my fry, so I hold them longer than is probably necessary. My lfs is always happy to have them.

I have bought a lot of fish online as well as at the lfs, and usually find that very young fish have a smaller chance of adapting to different water and surviving to maturity than older ones. Since it's often the case that the only way to get a particular species is to buy them when you can, I always buy a few extra ones if they are young in order to compensate for this. Most people don't like to have to do this.
