There are actually many "degrees" of hardness that have been defined over the years. The Clark/English degree, the French degree, the American degree... but, the one used in fishkeeping is almost, almost always the German degree.

One German degree of hardness is equal to 17.9 ppm.

As to whether your values are acceptable or not depends a lot on what fish you are keeping. Almost all of the common fish will be fine in your water, but if you are keeping some rarer or more special needs fish, then they may not.
