What Should/could I Do?

In my area the news said that there is the possibilty of a tornado so I need to know is there anything I should/could to help my fish survive if it happens. Like should I set my bettas tanks on the floor covered up with a towel and cover my other tanks up also with a towel or what?

Common sense says to keep them in a room with no windows, preferbly the smallest room which is usually the strongest support wise. Other than that hope you and your family and fish are ok, but most of all hope it doesnt come near you.

Well they are in my bedroom which has a window. So should I cover the tanks up with a towel so drywall and stuff like that won't fall into the tanks if they don't fall over?

I would have an emergency plan for them. Do you have cups/jars that you could put them in, so they can come down into the basement with you as the twister approaches? I keep the cups my bettas came in, for example, on top of thier tanks, so that I can scoop them out for quick transport in the event of an emergencey.

But please, above all, keep YOU safe! Don't waste time trying to salvage fish that would probably be impossible to save in the event of severe house damage if it would put yourself at risk. I know it is sad to have to think that way, but you need to ensure your safety and that of your family above everything else.

Well for my bettas they didn't come with a cup because they charge an extra $3 or $4 for what they call the "tank" or "set up" and my pleco is to fast and big for a cup or those holding containers that the lps put fish in before they put them in a bag also the both 10g and long 20g are heavily planted so it would be hard to catch the fish. But I could bring the bettas since there tanks aren't heavy to lift. Should I just take them? I would never risk my life for my fish I mean if I look out the window and theres the tornado like 100' away I'll say forget them (not ot be rude) and maybe grab my playstation 2 or my computer and high tail it to the basement. Oh no here comes the tornado....just kidding
