There is a bit of tank space atm, some in my 30 ltr and some in my 240 ltr. Three options strike me as attractive:

Option 1. Get a couple of pairs of blue limias from TriMar.

Pros: I have always wanted these. They can be hard to get hold of and TriMar now have them. I do like fish that breed. And (slightly frivoulously) they’d look pretty with my yellow evelynas. And I can sell them at next year’s BLA auction.

Cons: The evelynas are already breeding- if these get going too, things could start filling up.

Option 2. Buy a small group of khuulie loaches from the slightly more reliable of the local shops. Once they are quarantined in 30 ltr, move into large tank and then get some pygmy corys for 30 ltr.

Pros: By far the cheapest option. My lonely khuulie will be happy. Pygmies are cute and may breed, but more controllably than livebearers.

Cons: Lots of sickly khuulies around here. And if I get the pygmies, that will be my quarantine tank taken up.

Option 3. Get a Green Phantom Plec for large tank.

Pros: They are goooorgeous (dwarfgourami swoons and drools).

Cons: And expensive. And I’d only get the one so wouldn’t watch any group interaction, which I do rather enjoy. And, of course, no babies. It may not like my fairly sedate (not v. strong water movement) tank.

go for the blue limias because they are harder to get and not many people are breeding them. If you get too many young buy another tank to put them in :)

Id go for the Khuli Loaches
