Hi
I am setting up a tropical system but still being at school I am on a tight budget I have found a second hand tank size 48 x 24 x 18 with heaters, External Eheim professional II filter, two sets of lights. What I need to know is what do I put in the bottom of the tank i.e. gravel or sand is there any advantage or dis-advantage also how thick should it be, I aim to keep mollys, guppies, angels etc.Is there anything else i should add ? (Please don’t say water)
Many Thanks

argos play sand is only £2.49. i bought a bag yesturday.gravel looks good and comes in many colors, and most middle/top dwellers dont care, but for bottom dwellers, sand is better. im changing my gravel over to sand today for the cories im getting.it depends on what your after.with mollies, guppies and angles, i think gravel or sand if fine, its up to you.

Sand is a pain in the arse to grow plants in. Im about to go back from sand to fine gravel again.
