I don`t count sheep to get to sleep, I count fish
My female Apisto has been one for hiding away a fair bit since I got her but she was out in the tank tonight and I noticed that she had a fuzzy white coating on her side and back. She was very slow and docile so I netted her and held her in one of the breeding traps I have so that I could see her more clearly. She was struggling to breath, finding it difficult to move so in the end I got my Son to put her out of her misery. I also found one of my young female rams dead at the back of the tank this evening as well
I`ve done a bit of reading and it appears more than likely that my Apisto was infected with fungus?
I tested the water straight away and I`ve done about 70% water change as the Nitrate level was quite high (80) , the Ammonia and Nitrites were at 0 but I guess the ammonia must have been higher at some point if the Nitrates are higher than the usual 20-30.
I`m presuming now that the whole tank will need to be treated so I`d really appreciate some advice on what`s the best meds to be using? I have some Amano shrimps in the tank, 2 bn plecs and a clown plec so hopefully any treatment used won`t harm them??
All info greatfully received.
