What Rocks Are Safe For Fresh Water Tanks

Can i use rocks i got from the beach if i boil them clean and put them in my fresh water tank?....thanx for your help

By beach do you mean from a freshwater lake or the ocean? If from a lake, as long as there are no signs of rust or obvious metal deposts they should be fine. If they are from the ocean it depends on what kind of fish your are keeping as they may raise your PH.

Any chance you could post some pics of the rocks, someone may be able to ID them and let you know for sure.

Basic procedure is to pour a little vinegar on them and if they fizz they are base and will raise your ph. Boil all rocks before adding them to the aquarium, I would do this in a large metal pot with a lid on, fill with a large amount of cold water and heat on the barbecue as they can explode with the temp difference.
