The real reason is that the penalty spot was fixed!! I had a video of the match and if you play it in slow motion you can see that the ball moved before beckham kicked it!! And if you keep looking really closely at the tapes when Beckham walks away you see this..

Come on William the penalty spot was the same for the all, They all had a disavantage. Or maybe the mole WAS portuguese
