what other small fish can i put in with a tank when i am trying to breed angel fish. i wouldnt mind a white beta as i think they look realy nice but i was thinking would it hassle the angel fishes eggs. also would i be able to have a small bristle nose in there also.
thanks any ideas on stocking please post

just to clarify it is a female i am thinking about is a female going to be trouble also with the tail situation. my tank is a river reef and the reason i have decided to breed angels is because in my shop the discus layed eggs so i decided to go back to tropical.
here is a photo of what the tank looks like now. i converted it today got a couple of free plants and chucked them in. i have a 4 ft tank in my garage but i am awaiting a lid with lights in so i am starting out in this tank for now

the angles would nip the bettas fins
Agree with kizno here, the angels would rip the betta's tail to shreds
Sometimes it's the other way round, which makes it all the more difficult to successfully mix bettas with angelfish.

I'd be inclined to add a shoal of tetras, something like neon, cardinal or rummynose etc. Be careful that your angelfish might just simply eat them. But in the wild neon tetra are angelfish's natural food so it might aid breeding somehow. They also won't really be a threat to any eggs.

You might also need to add some more tall smooth vertical objects (plants, pots, rocks, whatever) as angelfish spawn on vertical surfaces.

ok thanks for that. i have decided on some albino coradoras as the first tank inhabitants and bought. io used water from a one of our tanks downstairs to fill up the majority if my tank and i also cut some mature sponge from the filter and placed it within mine. i bought another plant today and will post another picture of the tank later when the fish are in and everything has settled down.

how big is the tank? the one in the pic looks a bit small to me (but pics can be misleading)
