what on earth is going on? my angel fish is laying eggs....but...it cant be! ive only had 1!!!!


and its laying them on the filter, and fighting of my kissing gourami, how did it get pregnant? cross breed....it can be

Angels don't get pregnant, they lay the eggs, then the male comes along to fertilize them. It's not unusual for a female to spawn with no male present, and to guard the eggs as if they are fertilized. Needless to say, the eggs will not be fertile, but it is a good sign. Fish that are in a healthy environment & feel safe are the ones to spawn, so it says plenty about the quality of care you give to your fish.

Angels will not breed with gouramis.

thank you, that really makes me feel good, well when i went back up all those 'hundreds' of eggs were gone, either eaten or sucked up. but im glad shes happy, when she was laying and i went up she came up to me just like she would to the other fish in an aggressive stance. and she keeps looking at where the eggs were.

That's pretty much standard for angels spawning in a community tank, either the angel(s) will eat the spawn, or other fish will eat them. Plecs are notorious for eating spawns, being armored catfish.

Angels spawn every 7 to 14 days, and the aggression isn't unusual. If the aggression gets out of hand, just pull the spawn.
