I bought a 4.5g cube tank and moved a fully cycled filter into it and a mini heater
I moved 4 pygmy cory into it and 5 micro rasbora and this morning are all dead  the stats are showing perfect
The temp is the same as the tank they came from
How the hell has this happened :(

Sounds strange but is there anything over night that could of stressed them out? Pet animal or somthing?

as its a small tank if an aerosol /spray can was sprayed that could of don it or your heater could of mail functiond and horrible to say but (cooked them) OR THe filter may be to strong and stress them or beat em up on the glass

No none of those things happened at all
The current isn't strong, the heater hasn't failed, nothing has been sprayed in there
I would have said my test kit's faulty only it's not because it tests the bags that come in from shippers or shops and the reading changes, so my test kit's not faulty
Ohhh I just saved 1 pygmy and put it back in the other tank, but fished out 8 casualties :( so sad and so perplexing
Been keeping tanks for years, never had an unexplained wipeout before

where did you get your tank from

how long did you acclimatize for? what is the PH of the tank they came from? and what is he PH of your tank? this is VITAL to know, every fish keeper should be asking their LFS to show them with a water test kit.

No the tank was brand new, the fish were already mine, all I did was set up a nano tank using the filter and some water (plus some new water, like a water change type thing) from my big tank and literally move the fish over. The filter had come from the tank they were already in. I know about pH change, temp change etc. and nothing was different, it was all the same.

did you give the tank a bleach + boiling water wash

there are sometimes residues from manufactoring left on the glass that are extremly harmful to fish including glass cleaners

Ooh I would never bleach a tank, do you do that hun? that would scare me!
I always rinse them out though
I think I will have to strip it down and boil it and the gravel etc. and re-cycle it
Can't think of anything else to do
So sad, I lost my babies they were only half a centimetre

sorry to hear this :(

Only thing i can think of is purely stress from the move.

They survived coming here and they all went from one tank, bosh next door to the next tank, and yet one survived ????????
Very odd. I hate mysteries like this.
