Ok.. so I have my fish (some of them) and my long/fast growing stem plants.. so my question is what now?

what are some good plants?

also, in my tropical my anacharis are not doing so hot.. how come?

and still how much dry fert should I be adding?

Dry ferts need to be mixed with water then added to the tank.

read this for more details as it will greatly help you out.

vallis
java moss/fern
hornwort

I am sure there are lots more those are some off the top of my head

also do you have Co2 injection and whats your WPG at?

well I currently have (in a 72 gallon) 4 wisteria, 10 anacharis, 7 moneywort, 5 foxfrill(sp?). my electrical WPG is 96 but it is definatly brighter then a 100 watt light bulb. I am not sure what fluroecent light wattage it is.

yes I have a DIY co2 injector. I get a bubble burst into my powerhead impellor about every 2 secounds when it is only on the tropical and 4 secounds when the go0ldfish tank is running it's co2 injector as well.

Hi Matey,

Do you mean your tube/bulb or whatever light your using is a 96w bulb ?

WPG means watts per gallon, i.e w / g or the bulb wattage divided by the tank volume in gallon.
Your using a hefty lighting rig if you really have 96WPG, and i`d advise using sunglasses when doing tank maintenance ... lol

Just have another check, like is say, whatever your tube wattage is divided by the tank volume.

EG.
My old tank was a 20gallon and i used 3 x 20 w tubes.
--------------------

Light Wattage: 3 x 20 = 60 watts (because i had 3 tubes each at 15W)
Tank Volume = 20 gallon

WPG = w / g = 60 / 20 = 3 watt per gallon

Good Luck

Chris

opps I messed up my wording haha!!

but it works out to 1.3 WPG.

;) Sounds more like it ! :)

Regards

Chris

thanks, check my 72 gallons journal.. I am abunt to order ... plantable? (rooting) plants. the anacharis should hold algea off.. it has done so so far.

with 1.3 WPG you don't reallly need the Co2 injection. It might even be questionable as to how much its really doing with that little light. My suggestion would be add another tube and try to jack it up to just about 2 WPG or over. That would be the best idea if your using CO2 and ferts. Seems like you got everything going well so I am sure the investment of a few dollars into another fluro tube is definatley worth it.

You said that your anacharis was holding off any algae... explain some more.. is this an algae busting plant? i have never even heard of it.

it si already three damn tube man.. it was a $100 light.. I really can;t fit any more light son top of that thing.. three tubes is pretty wide..

and algea busting as in.. suckign up nutrients so algea can't relaly leach any of it fast enough...

3 tubes? and your sitting at 1.3 WPG.

What wattage are your tubes?

can u provide some pics of the anacharis, I am interested to see this as I have issues with algae for some reason.
