29 gallon tank, tank has been running four months, me newish to fish keeping, my readings are spot on, ive got 7 zebra danios and 2 mollies. Went to LFS yesterday and these are the fish I like

-Pepper catfish
-Neon dwarf rainbow fish
-Rosy tetra
-Gold white cloud mountain minnows
-Guppys

As its my first tropical fish tank Im going on the side of hardy fish and adding the fish slowly until my experience grows. So which out of the above would you wonderful people go for?

Cheers Matt :D

Hardy fish...nothing beats guppies. I've accidently dropped my guppy from a tank that was 78 degrees to a tank that was 68 degrees, and it still survived. I couldn't catch it so I left it in there, and it i still kicking.

Umm....only limited to what you like and whats compatable. which for live bearers and tetras, there are hundreds of possibilities..

ive had my 2ft tank running about 3 months now, maybe a lil less and guppies were one of the first fish i put in there.

put 2 in and i now have 6 lol.

the female has spawned (or what ever the right word is) twice and its kewl watchin em grow up and helpin em to survive whilst there tiny.

i can see this novelty wearing off when i have billions of baby guppies but for now its alrite.

long story short. get the guppies!

oh and the bottom feeder to do some tidying up is a good idea too.

Can I just add from personal experience that the white clouds are also a good choice. They are extremely hardy, not much seems to bother them, and they also keep to a manageable size. Mine are not the gold variety, and are only a few weeks old, but i have heard that the older they get (which can be a few years!)the prettier they become. A small group of these with their bright red tails flashing by would look great. I sometimes think these get overlooked, perhaps because they are so small.

I've rosy tetra's and they are pretty nice fish, and are fun to watch - zoom around the tank a lot.
Am not sure they are really that hardy - I've had mine for about 18 months, started with 7 now have 4, also have had an outbreak of itch. In the same period, I've not lost any other fish, including neon tetra which most people figure are quite sensitive.
Pls bear in mind this is just one person's experience, so not exactly scientific!

I would vote for the peppered corys (catfish). Very pleasant easy-going fish, great fun to watch (though sometimes they do hide), quite hardy. I love mine.
