um no..a tank will look good with a blac backgorud when:Adrinal said:yep check out the members section.
Usually a good bet.
1) natural colors.
2) contrast
3) when in doubt a solid black, dark blue, or light blue back ground. Pictures tend to look dumb.
4) Generally sloping substrate low in fron to high in back.
5) And like any art, a good balance of neggative to positive space.
6) a damn good camera and a tripod is a must for showing off the tanks(but that is a sepperate topic.

Anyway back to the question. I dont personally care to much for very unatural colors. For Example neon blue rocks and bright purple and orange plants. I agree about the background either a solid color or a picture that imitates a wall of Rocks without any pictures of plants. I chose white gravel and dark to light green plants and a few plants that have a are brown and kinda have a red or orange hue to them. I think it depends on your taste. The only thing I think every one agrees with is healthy fish.
Also, Im not a big fan of novelty ornaments like Frogs with signs that say "No Fishing" Or a diver with bubbles coming from him. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I think it looks silly. I did see a huge shipwreck ornament at my petshop and I think I have saw it online before. I really liked it. But I dont like the smaller ones cause it seems a little too out of proportion. If I had $100 dollors to waste I would buy it. but i dont![]()
