What Makes A Betta A 'dragon'?

I've wondered for a while now, and couldn't really find any clear answer, what classifies a Betta as a 'dragon'?

This was a description I found hope it helps:
The Dragon betta has been created by using the Platinum gene together with any other colouration. Dragon scales do not have to be white to be classed as Dragon. Its the thick looked scales on the body and face that is the Dragon gene. You can find Dragon bettas in many different colours.
