i don't work in liters, but you should go for 5-6x flow through your sump so, do the math with your tank volume x 5.

I have a 90 gallon tank and i get about 450-500 gph out of my pump after head.

An 8x1.5x1.5 seems like it should need bigger than 1" piping for the overflow... my 90 gal uses 1-1/4"

thats what size my bulkhead has so dunno

ill keep looking

The maximum flow a 1" bulkhead can take is 1500lph with clean pipe, call it 1000lph safely ;) That isn't really enough flow though the sump for a tank of that size IMO, so I'd look to increase the size of your holes and bulkheads to at least 40mm bulkheads, unless you have 6 or more of these 1" holes to play with :good:

nope i have 2 1.5 inch holes in the base and 2 1 inch holes in the back at the top so - dunno dad sais i cant up the size of the holes

ok im gonna go with a 32mm pipe if i have to ill have two wiers with two 32mm pipes

You are probably still looking at 3-4,000lph across the system, which still isn't really enough for many set-up's... Skimming won't be too effective in that type of set-up if the skimmer is in the sump, but Reforgiums would be OK with that flow rate.

All the best

sso even with two 32mm pipes it still wouldnt be enough

With my tank (90gallon reef ready) i have to throttle back the drain so the pump can keep up. I use two 1-1/4" standpipes for redundancy incase one gets blocked.

The flow you have available in those pipes may, or may not be enough. It really depends on how you are going to set your sump up

So....

What do you have planned in the sump?

All the best
