I have a pregnant auratus cichlid, I wonder if anyone can tell me if there is any market or money once the fry arrive, i would love to keep some but i dont have the room for them, so i will plan to sell them if that fails i will try to pass them off to someone who wants them... Once the fry are born i plan on raising them myself... Hopefully with some luck they will all grow and live happy healthy lives.. Does anyone know what to do once they arrive and are ready to be passed along?

I'd take them to the LFS and see if you could get store credit.

indeed pica is correct in that the market is dependent on your location and whats hot and whats not. take for example my area. 90% of the market is cornnered by tetras and most other common community fish. where as you have to search for many many months to see the big central and south americans and most africans. I personally order all of my fish in from people I know on the net. if you are serious about selling them. check with you lfs to see if they will take them if not I would look into posting them on aquabid or another simmilar site. and for best results you should be willing to ship. so that would be something to look into learning how to do.

Location is the biggie. Angels were going for a good price 9 months ago, last auction they were averaging 70 cents per nickel to quarter size fish. Down in southern Illinois, they were still getting $1.50 to $2.00 each. I've changed my breeding plan, trying to grow out some larger angels, saw a couple of good size koi go for $35. Know your market before you breed!

yeah i will try the lfs if that doesnt work i can hang onto them, i have friend who are intrested in starting cichlid tanks, i can hook them up with some fish as well. I didnt rush into breeding.. They just unexpectedly started breeding.. There is a possibility these are hybrids in which case i will hold onto them and not pass them out, Thanks for your help, Maybe Koi are where the moneys at, although they are very inconsistant because you have to know which are going to be the better koi to raise and sell others may just be unwanted then you have many koi on your hands in my case i dont have the room for that. I plan on eventually building a pond if anyone has an experience with that i would love to hear it.

i think tolak meant "koi angels" which is a color pattern.

how many tanks have you got? if you have two or more tanks with larger fish, you can separate out any unwanted fry. most fish will eat anything that they can fit in their mouths, so fry tends to go down a treat.

3 Tanks, i dont understand what you mean about the fry? Yeah anyways my female spit her eggs i dont know why? Any ideas?
