well when you type this into google they have a similar shape ut its probably the forieghn name

Aangeboden Malawi Cyclides

Aangeboden means roughly 'up for offer' with just the name malawi cichlids, was wondering if anyone knew what type they actually were before i get them

Well, it doesn't look like any mbuna I've ever read about/seen, and it's not a peacock. It looks really familiar, but I can't quite place it. Sorry I'm not much help.

Edit: I think it may be a female (obviously  ) either Hemichromis guttatus (common juwel fish), or a Hemichromis lifalili, apparently there are some breeders that are line breeding H.guttatus to get cherry red females. While they aren't Malawi cichlids, they are African Riverine. :good:

ive just been through the fish profiles in the old world section and couldnt find one that looks like it :(
am meant to be receiving them on monday but would really like to research their care a bit first!

possibly minx :)

welli shall presume they are jewels and base the aquarium on that! thanx x

Thats your best bet, be aware if they are jewels, they can be aggressive, so tankmates need to be robust.

Agreed it looks like a Jewel. There was a good article on them in last month's PFK magazine if you can get your hands on a copy.

BTT :good:

well they've arrived! seems to be a male/female combo of jewels and a zebra poor zebra is terribly beat up though
