 Heh. I might get a 5g + another 3g for another betta.
Should I just repost this in the Beginners Questions forum?

your very limited with a tank so small,
probably only 1 fish so you may aswell make it a gorgeous specimin fish, such as a betta splendins,

Hah. My mom seems to think she can fit 2 angelfish, several tetras, and many other things in one. :X She's stuuupid.

A good fish to keep would be a betta. But also what I've gotten into recently is killifish. You can keep a pair of Aphyosemion gardneri Killifish in a 3.5 gallon and they will breed with the right conditions(which are pretty simple) and then you could sell the babies to your LFS, thats what I'm gonna do when I get my female, i got the male today and I'm gonna get the female soon, They will be in a 5.5 gallon tank that the male is in right now. I love bettas but now I'm gettin into killies so either one could fit in there.

Well when your posting on this forum the response will be obvious hehe Yup a Betta! Im getting one for my empty brand-new 5.5 gallon tank!!! YAY!!

Congrats!

Killifish are gorgeous, but, I really don't think I could handle them breeding. XD Unless they're seriously easy and require little tank space.

A dwarf puffer would be another option, they are really interactive and cute.

Yes, a betta as has been suggested :hyper:

Can I just point out that 5 gallons isn't sufficient for a goldfish  they need at least 10-20g for the first one and 10g each after that which you may know as you put the little smiley after it, but just clarifying for those that don't know :look:

^ ::nods:: Good thing you said this at the betta forum, not in coldwater! Commons basically should be kept in ponds, and fancies need a good 20-30g per pair at maturity.

From what i've read they are super easy to breed, at least Aphyosemion gardneri species is. They are pretty expensive in pet stores too so you could bring in quite a bit of money selling them to some of your Local Pet stores. Thats what i'm going to do. Heres a website that has a few breeding methods for the Aphyosemion gardneri species, which i forgot to add, is the most common Killi species and you are more likely to find these in pet stores than any other killi. http://www.fishtanksandponds.info/live-sto...g_killifish.htm
