Reduce your lighting, prevent fluctuating CO2 and increase your circulation and that should sort it.

Ok. Reduced the lighting by 2 hours today. Can't control CO2 as I dont have a kit. I have holes cut on both sides of my lid for the filter, so I think Ill just move it from one side to the other every few days. Looks the most like staghorn algae to me, but I definitely don't have an ammonia problem. I've been changing at least 15% water every few days and the tank is mature. Hopefully the lighting will do the trick.

Hairy and fuzzy algae's are almost always flow related, if you increase the circulation it should go.

Thank you. Do you think it would make more sense to get a small powerhead to put at the side of the tank that is opposite the filter, or two just get another filter and run one on each side of the tank? They are about the same price, so wondering which would be a better idea...

I certainly have noticed that there are 'dead' spots when my pennywort gets a bit too thick on the surface. I thinned it out yesterday.
