Evening all

Yesterday i went to my fish shop and bought some wicked japanese algae eating shrimp (3)(ive kept them in my tank before but unfortunately died, think it was becasuse i didnt do a fishless cycyle when i originally got the tank. Please dont kill me on that)

Anyway, i got the shrimp and while i was there i bought some dwarf gourami as well. I let them out into the tank after a while and a couple of hours later i had a look back in my tank and couldnt see any of my shrimp. On closer inspection i could see that one of them had been eaten.

My question is,

What fish of mine decided that my shrimp was there xmas dinner,

My stock is 5 plattys, 6 tetras,4 barbs 4 dwarf gourami (bought at same time of shrimp) 1 plec 1 red tail shark

depending on what barbs and tetras you have, it could have been any of them. Certainly bigger barbs & tetras and the redtail shark will eat small shrimp. It could also have been the shrimp died and then the other fishes got into it.

It's quite possible that the shrimp died and was then eaten. Most fish will eat other fish or inverts once they are dead but won't bother or actually kill them otherwise. When you buy shrimp, they are generally very small and it's pretty easy for the person netting them to injure one in the process and it die shortly after you get it home.
