I thought i would start this thread to ask you all what would you say your favourite filter is. And to given a reason why you like that filter best.

Even better if you can post a pic of the filter or post a link of it.

Zoe :good:

Ps you can only choose 1 filter. External/Internal

Without going to SW, my home made trickle tower wet/dry filters (technically external). Loads of media, exposed sponge exposed to ait for excellent mechanical filtration, easy to maintain. Love them.

Agreed, my trickle filter. Not because it does an awesome job, but because I partly made it, a good feeling.

However my favourite off the shelf filter is my Ehiem 2026, bought about 8 years ago, never had a problem with it at all.

just like the awesome flow rate and it holds lots of media, i know a lot of ppl dont like them but i love mine

Thanks. Anyone else?

I have a diatom filter this is my favorite(DC10) that I use once a month for 6-7 hours and it keeps the aquarium sparkling clean. I have 2 aquaclear HOBS that run constantly on new 90g set up. I was mad when when I lost my ADF to filter accident but learned a good lesson from it. :shifty:

Eheim 2026's and 2028's have served me well thus far

Also, Fluval4+ internal, they been great to me too!!!

Eheim 2217 Classic, nice simple design with no fancy gimmicks and they do the job theyre meant to.

Thanks all.

I have got to Agree with CFC the retro 2217 done it for me, tho no longer have it

I started this thread in order to decide what filters to use for my tank upgrade.

So keep them coming :good:

Fluval FX5 external I use 2 to run my tank and they hold loads of media dna have a big turn over I love mine.

Internal Eheim 2252 I dont recon you will find a better internal filter.

Externals are by far better than internals as they take up less swimming space and they hold a lot more media.

i had a fluval 2+ internal and every time i cleaned it half the crap fell back in when i picked it up, i then got a fluval 105 external then i upgraded tank so got a fluval 205 external.

For any tank of a reasonable size I would recommend going for an external.

I picked up a Tetratec EX1200 brand new and delivered for under 60 quid. Highly recommended on here by others.

I'm not at all disappointed. Good volume for a selection of media, primes easily, comes with all the pipework including a good spraybar and kicks out one heck of a good current on full power.

Cheap as chips.
