What could be wrong with my tank?

Over the last few days I’ve lost three guppies and two red cherry shrimp; two of the guppies weren’t 100% well anyway; but that’s not really the point. They were sold as cold water (not the normal fancy guppies you get).

I upgraded their tank; it’s now 7.4 gallons, I got a heater (after many questions on here); their tank was about 19-20degrees anyway but I got a heater and it’s now 22-24degrees so it’s not a big increase. The water stats are fine, I put their filter in from their other tank (the filter was ‘too big’ for their smaller tank but it’s perfect for this tank).

The shrimp and guppies were acclimatised. I put some of their old tank water in the new tank and part new water (just like I’d do on a normal water change).

The only new things I’ve put in are extra gravel; which was washed (in water, no detergents) and cleaned before going in (it’s the dust free gravel); they had some in, I just put more of the same stuff in. I moved their plant, their castle and I put a new rock in (the shrimp had been in with the rock previously). I had put them in, thought I’d then go and get some more plants for their tank, but I now have no fish left.

I was wondering, did I do something wrong, has something I’ve done affected them, is it maybe because I got a heater and they were used to the colder temperatures or is it possible that one of the guppies had something and it’s infected the whole tank?

So now I have a 7.4 gallon tank with 8 shrimp in it. I plan on waiting a few weeks before adding anything else to it, just in case; I’m going to do 20% water changes daily just in case. Do you think I’ll be fatal to my shrimp? Also would it be recommended to throw out the fish net/equipment I used in that tank as not to affect any other tank.

Did you cycle your tank before putting the fish in? What are your water stats?

guppies may not have been well to begin with as stated. shrimp are very sensitive to ammonia spike, even small ones. do you have live plants? keep the substrate clean and make sure the shrimp are getting enough food. water change water change water change!
cheers

Tank was cycled. I basically moved everything from their old tank to the new tank (water and filter included) + new water.

Stats: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20 nitrate (I always get nitrate and nitrite muddled up when I write it down, the harmful one was the 0 value - If I wrote it down wrong).

I have no live plants, substrate was clean, I added more in - which was cleaned. The shrimp definately had enough food, I leave their food in for ages and then remove; plus I fed them daily.
