Basically I bought 3 rams from my lfs. I put them in my tank on Saturday then when I got home from work on Sunday and turned the light on I noticed they were sitting on the bottom and 2 of them looked like they had white spots on them one more than the other and the 3rd with fair few.

I have immediately set up a hosp tank put half water out of the previous tank in then filled rest up with fresh.

I took out the 3 rams and placed them in the hosp tank. When I first put them in the were flating around (dead like) then after a couple of mins then settled at the bottom of the tank.

One minute they will be swimming around erratically then the other they will just be sitting at the bottom of the tank breathing very slowly.

I have checked them this morning and they are still alive just sitting at the bottom of the tank.

Tried to take pics to post but mobile pic was no good, will try with cam tonight.

All of the other fish in the tank (around 30) appeared to be fine, will double check tonight when I go home.

Can anyone help me. Is it whitespot?? What causes it and what shall I do to treat it xx

it could be white spot if it is best treatment is ws3 by king british your tank will need to be treated is your other fish will develop it as well as it is in water there is a good pinned article all about white spot what it is and what to do!

The ich isnt on the fish, its in the water probably. No point putting the rams in there to treat them, leave them in your tank imo.

How do you add new fish ?

Rams are very particular about water parameters, as are most cichlids.

Firstly though, dont treat it if your unsure about it. Have they got little white dots like salt grains on them ?

What are your water stats ? What Rams are they ? Some do have white dots on their fins, my bolivian rams have....
